Learn to use of transitions, color grading, effects, sound design, and motion graphics in video editing training in Delhi

Hello, my name is Preeti Bhandari, I am a motion graphics student in ADMEC multimedia institute & I just completed my premiere pro classes in Delhi where I learned about editing, color grading, text animations, youtube style editing and even about filmmaking process, type of shots, angles, cuts used in the industry.

Premiere pro is an industry used professional editing software which is used across the whole world for films, entertainment industry, advertising industry, content creation etc. It’s one of the most used software in the world of editing because of its easy and fast workflow. Let’s now understand what I learn at my Video Editing Institute in Delhi about in this software deeply.

Transitions are effects used to smoothly change from one clip to another instead of making a sudden cut.

Common Transitions and Their Uses

  1. Cross Dissolve : in this transition one clip slowly fades into the next in a smooth way

  2. Dip to Black : The screen briefly turns black between clips. Showing that time has passed or ending a scene.

  3. Dip to White : The screen briefly turns white. Dream sequences, flashbacks, or bright transitions.

  4. Film Dissolve : Similar to Cross Dissolve but with a film-style look. its best for cinematic videos.

  5. Slide : One clip slides out while the next slides in. can be used for presentations, travel videos, and fast-paced content.

  6. Push : The new clip pushes the old clip off the screen. Tutorial and sports edits

  7. Fade In / Fade Out : Video gradually appears or disappears. usually used at the beginning or ending a video.

Color grading is the process of adjusting colors in a video to create a specific mood, style, or look.

Why Color Grading is Used

  • it crates a mood

Warm colors (orange, yellow) make scenes feel happy, friendly, or cozy.

Cool colors (blue, green) make scenes feel calm, sad, or serious.

  • helps Improve Visual Quality

Makes footage look more professional and cinematic.

Enhances contrast, brightness, and color balance.

  • Maintains Consistency

Makes clips from different cameras or locations look similar.

Keeps the overall video visually consistent.

  • Directs Attention

    Highlights important subjects or objects.

Helps viewers focus on key parts of the frame.

  • Supports Storytelling

Different color tones can represent different emotions, times, or situations.

Example: A flashback may use softer, faded colors.

Effects in professional videos are used to improve the overall visual quality and make the content more engaging. They help enhance colors, lighting, sharpness, and other visual elements so that the footage looks polished and professional.

Editors also use effects to support storytelling and create the right mood. For example, slow motion can make an important moment feel more dramatic, while blur or lighting effects can create a specific atmosphere or emotion.

Effects are often used to fix problems in footage as well. Tools such as stabilization can reduce camera shake, and noise reduction can improve clips recorded in poor lighting conditions.

In addition, effects help make videos more dynamic and visually appealing. Motion effects, animated text, and visual enhancements can capture the viewer's attention and keep the video interesting without distracting from the main message.

Uses of Sound Design in Professional Editing

  • Enhances storytelling by supporting the mood, emotions, and atmosphere of a scene.

  • Creates emotional impact through music, ambient sounds, and sound effects.

  • Improves realism by adding natural sounds that make scenes feel more authentic.

  • Maintains audio clarity by balancing dialogue, music, and sound effects.

  • Increases audience engagement by making the video more immersive and enjoyable.

  • Highlights important moments using sound cues, impacts, and audio emphasis.

  • Gives a professional finish by ensuring high-quality, polished audio throughout the video.
