As we know, in Premiere Pro, nesting option is used to convert multiple layers into a single layer. Just like that, there is an option of pre compose also in Adobe after effects.
Pre-composing option in Adobe After Effects
This option lets the editors or motion graphics to group the multiple layers into one single one to perform tasks easily. As in After Effects become layers of every single clip. It becomes complicated. It is easy to work with less no of layers and Pre-composing helps us in it.
How to use Pre-composing in Adobe After Effects?
From right click of mouse button pre compose option comes. After selecting layers which we have to pre compose and right click of mouse button for pre compose.
It will go like this:
Go to timeline panel and select layers > Apply Pre-compose using keyword shortcut key Ctrl+Shift+C on (Windows) and Command+Shift+C for (Mac OS).
Advantages:
The main advantage is that we can work on multiple layers at once, whether to apply an effects or transform them together with keyframes.
Even we can duplicate the pre-compose to use it with other compositions. For duplicate use ctrl+d. Remember to duplicate from project panel only as if you duplicate the pre-compose on timeline and you are planning to change to it then the same change will be applied to the original layer too. On timeline, creating duplicate pre-compose means, making a mirror copy. So, it is important to copy from project panel only. We can also rename our pre compose layer anytime.
